5 Common Grapeseed Oil Uses

Grape seeds are available in abundance almost everywhere as it is the by-product of wine-making processes. Since 20th century, grapeseed oil productions have been great and profitable as well. The oil has been used for various purposes. Five common grapeseed oil uses are briefly outlined below.

1. Cooking

High smoke point (up to 216-degree Celsius) is one of the greatest strengths of grapeseed oil. The property is useful for bringing natural taste and nutty flavor in sauteing and stir-frying as well.

Grapeseed oil is also great as a base for flavoring with herbs including ginger, garlic, rosemary, and more. However, the oil is often used for making homemade mayonnaise and salad dressing.

2. Skin Care

Human facial skin and full-body skin takes plenty of benefits from various grapeseed oil uses. The oil can be used as moisturizer, acne remedy, anti-aging agent, wound healers, and more. It contains a bunch of useful subtances including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, vitamin E, and linoleic acid.

Grapeseed oil is almost an all-in-one substance which you can use as a complete skin treatment solution every day because it is very light and safe to use for sensitive skin also. The oil performs very well to tackle many skin problems especially for people with dry skin type.

3. Hair Care

The extraction results of grapeseed are able to stimulate the growth of hair cell. In general, the oil inhibits the destruction of collagen thus it will improve overall health condition of all body tissues including skin and hair.

For optimum hair treatment results, you may need a combination of grapeseed oil, rosemary oil, and lavender oil in a ratio of 10:2:2. It is recommended that you use the mixture for hot oil hair treatment twice a week.

4. Anti-aging

Other grapeseed oil uses for cosmetic purposes include its ability to protect skin from sun exposure and increase antioxidant level in the blood. When applied directly to facial skin, especially to under-eye circles, the oil reduces the appearance of those signs of aging approximately in a week. On the other hand, it may increase the level of antioxidant in the blood thus it reduces aging signs from inside the body.

Some studies also suggest that ingested grapeseed oil actually provides antimicrobial, anti-aging, and anti inflammatory properties to the body.

5. Medicinal

Perhaps the greatest benefits of grapeseed oil are for medicinal purposes. In fact, the oil contains plenty of useful ingredients including beta-carotene, vitamin C, flavonoids, and more. It can even reduce the level of LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase HDL (good cholesterol).

Numerous studies suggest that grapeseed oil is useful for various medical treatments, such as cancer, liver, kidney problems, heart disease, and liver conditions.
